Today I am so excited to be collaborating with my first slow fashion company, Recover Brands! This company is completely transparent about their supply chain and it is truly quite incredible how they manufacture their clothing products!
Here is an overview of the process:
- Recycled plastic (PET) is collected and sorted
- Plastic is cleaned and chopped into flake
- Flake is pelletized into chips
- Chip is melted and extruded into new fiber
- Upcycled cotton scraps are collected and sorted by color
- Upcycled cotton is blended with recycled plastic to create a new blended fiber
- Blended fiber is spun into yarm
- Yarn is knitted into fabric
- Fabric is cut and sewn into a Recover Tee
The socially responsible production efforts of Recover have made a huge impact on our environment. Since 2010, Recover has saved 1.4 billion gallons of water, 8.4 million pounds of CO2 emissions, 20.3 million KWH of energy, and 5.4 million plastic bottles from the landfill. When you buy a product for them, you are rethinking what you want your footprint on this earth to look like!
I received their bundle #5 for free in return for sharing my honest thoughts and opinions with all of you. This bundle included their 100% recycled horizon hoodie, Charlotte-roasted green bean coffee and a ceramic mug! What I thought was awesome is that the products came in a recyclable mailing sleeve and a compostable plastic bag! I thought it was awesome that they stay true to their mission straight down to the packaging!
I am honestly 110% in love with their products. This hoodie is so soft and cosy! I could literally wear it every day! It’s crazy to think that the material used once was a plastic bottle. The only question I had after trying this on is “Why aren’t more companies doing this?!”
I also love the mug! I love the look of campfire style mugs and have been wanting one for a while! My favorite part about it is that this mug holds so much! I have been on a hot chocolate kick this month and will definitely get plenty of use out of it!
I tried the green bean coffee last night and thought it was cool! It tastes like a very weak cup of coffee even though it’s their medium roast. That being said, I am used to drinking Bustelo black so maybe that’s why I think that it tastes like that. It was good though and I will definitely be using the rest of this soon! It was a nice addition to my package to be able to try a new product and get to use my new Recover mug to drink it!
I can’t wait to continue to use these items and hope you will save 8 bottles and give their products a try too! I definitely recommend the hoodie that I picked out but you should get the bundle of you buy it because the hoodie costs $49 and the bundle is only $50, so in essence you get the mug and coffee for only a dollar extra.
BONUS: When you purchase from Recover through my affiliate link, you’ll receive $8 off your purchase, I’ll earn $8 toward my next purchase, and you’ll be saving 8 bottles from a landfill! There’s no excuse not to make your next clothing purchase a conscious and kind one!
